Germanic languages pronounce the "explosive" letters, such as a "hard" G, the K. etc. The Romance languages use A, E, I, O, U quite a bit...so it's a soft language (and moves off the tongue quickly/easily). If you are Latino and hear the word, GWAK, it is an "ouch." Go easy...try Wa-ka-mo-le ...(notice all the soft vowels).

Chuckaroo, all of us in Chicago speak proper Spanish, while where in other prts of the world, the spanish is slang,,, and we do not all pronounce the g in guacamole, it is not only silent, but pronounced like the h sound! Thanks for the chuckle!

I love your avocado tree Mr. Rodriguez!
Gringo:
Wow chuckaroo, sheer ignorance at its finest! When "all" that you speak of can pronounce the letter V and a few others with the correct sound, talk to those who mispronounce Guacamole about language. Peace!
Carletta:
This is delicious and the only thing I changed was the amount of salt, cut it to less than 1/2 cause 3/4 is tooo much. I have shared with many.

In Texas, we have many latinos and ALL of that I know agree that Guacamole is pronounced WITHOUT the G sound. The G is silent! But Gringo does have the strong G sound and they agree that that is the term to apply to those who mispronounce Guacamole. We also understand that many of you come from a great distance from the border (Chicago) and have not had a heavy exposure to proper pronunciation. Thank you.
