Consumers insist on quality, and Avocados
from Mexico deliver the goods because they’re
subject to even tougher quality standards than
U.S.-grown avocados.

APEAM sets the tone for standards

The quality of Avocados from Mexico
is first assured by the rigorous quality standards of the Association of Michoacan Avocado Growers, Packers, and Exporters (APEAM*) — the trade group that represents Mexico’s avocado industry and requires that all orchards are immaculate and free of fallen fruit.

Stringent USDA and SAGARPA oversight

Avocados from Mexico must then satisfy strict standards of both the U.S. and Mexican governments, including rigorous sanitation, packinghouse, and shipping procedures. Shipments at the U.S. border are inspected by the USDA and SAGARPA, the Mexican counterpart — then inspected again by the USDA after they clear customs.

A ripe-and-ready fruit for families

Busy consumers want fresh ingredients they can use now. Avocados from Mexico go from tree to table in just 4 days — faster and fresher than any other avocado. Avocados from Mexico are also ready when consumers want them, thanks to U.S. importers whose special ripening facilities ensure that ripe and ready-to-use Avocados from Mexico get to stores faster.
